From the cold dark hamlets of New York’s Hudson Valley Mama Doom has been resurrected. This new formation is redefining doom metal as they genre blend with their new release ‘BLOOD SALT SACRIFICE’ to be released on independent label Interstellar Smoke. Each track, an Infectious earworm; percussive, crunchy rhythmic grooves driven by hook laden ethereal melodies. The themes of ‘BLOOD SALT SACRIFICE’ hail from the dark recesses of this trios warped minds’ and will take you on a journey through nostalgic horror and rituals of the occult.
“With her relentless, machine-like delivery evoking a witchier Nico, Lolli is a siren on an eerie, rolling sea of earthquake bass and crazed fairground organ […] you can’t deny that the record is a visceral experience.”
–Classic Rock Magazine
“By changing their approach, ditching the guitars, and embracing a more 80s goth aesthetic Mama Doom have created an album that far surpasses their debut and feels like a true breath of fresh air in the occult and doom rock scene. Close the curtains, light some candles, and let the darkness embrace you.”
–Astral Noize
“After several years of experimentation, it would appear Mama Doom have arrived at a winning formula; one I will gladly return to again and again. The atmospheric, synth-laden intro, roaring bass riff, and show-stealing lead vocals courtesy of D.Lolli had me ready to purchase concert tickets to the Mama Doom show in my hometown that I’m certain doesn’t exist.”
-Angry Metal Guy
“This New York trio quickly won me over with their alluring blend of classic doom, occult, and psychedelic rock. It’s doom/occult rock with a twist, and that twist works. Highly recommended for fans of those genres.”
–Heavy Music Headquarters
“…after numerous digital spins, I missed the addition of the six-string not at all. And those keyboards add distinction without faltering into overuse, or put another way, the instrument is well-integrated into the mix (rather than tacked on). Maybe best of all is that D.Lolli’s hearty voicings add value.”
–The Vinyl District
“An out-of-the-box doom that performs with bass, drums and keys, supported by a female vocalist who tells the stories the instruments illustrate.”
-Hellheaven
“A bit weird but very enjoyable, there’s a psychedelic touch to Mama Dooms’ dark sounds mainly because of their use of keyboards and the ethereal vocals. Before you even realize it, all eight tracks have gone by and you’ll no doubt want to hit play again. It’s well worth it too as this is an excellent release.”
–Games Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life
“The hook line of Mama Doom’s new single is, ‘I’m having a black mass and nobody came.’ Consider me hooked.”
–The Obelsk
“The mix of influences is truly personal and recognizable record in every single note. A very rare feature, and not to be underestimated.”
